    P&P The Sulfur Trail

    A Pathfinder 1.0 Adventure.
To anyone who wish to join, there are still one spots open. Feel free to write here or send a DM to me.
    The Sulfur trail.
Something is happening in the world. The air smells wrong. Not the scent of rain. Not the scent of harvest, but sulfur faint, bitter, clinging to the back of the throat.
Children have begun disappearing around the world. At first, it was dismissed as the children running away, then maybe bandit who sell the children for money.
But now entire towns are hanging missing posters, and parents are no longer sleeping, afraid that their children are next.
Whispers spread of black-robed figures. Of shadows that move without light. Of smoke that smells like burning brimstone.

In this story you are not heroes , not yet. You are mercenaries, wanderers, hopeful adventurers trying to carve your place in the world.
And now a merchant is paying well for protection. He claims the road is merely unsafe and he needs your party.
This job is suppose to be simple for a group of mercenaries like yours. Escort the merchant. Get paid. Move on to the next request.
But everything never goes as planed does it?

Never really understood why people dislike the gunslinger class from a GM's perspective. Although it doesn't matter much either way; your game, your rules.

That aside, I'll declare this as tentative interest; pending other applicants.
    Active Character(s):
    D&D
Aleisandra - level 6 Dark Elan Soulknife - The Altar of the Sleepless - GM - Zeros

Its more about the time / setting then the dislike of gunslingers.
In my more steamlike games I allow them.

Thanks for the interest, I hope more will follow.

I'm interested. Do you want us to create locations while we create our backgrounds?

Ofcourse if you wish you can create small locations tied to your background.. like a village, a mentor’s shop, or a minor temple. I’ll fit them into the world.

I see lots of choices besides race and class epecially options within options related to class. As a newcomer to Pathfinder, am I better off to select a core class which has plenty of options or try one of the more complex classes such as Slayer or Arcanist?

If you're new to Pathfinder itself, but not d&d in general, then you could probably manage any class if you read through its abilities first. Although since we're starting at level 1 it'll be slightly easier as you'll have more time to get used to the class.

That said, aside from Gunslinger, are there any classes/races that you would prefer we not use? Are there any alignment restrictions for this adventure (e.g. non-Evil only, must be Good, etc.)?

All classes are are more or less balanced and as Faeryl says, If you just read the skills everything is more or less easy to play.
With Pathfinder you have alot of different ways to play so nothing is wrong and the Campaign is not built to have the "Super one hit to Kill the last boss build" so make anything you will enjoy playing.

All races/classes , alignments are welcome.
But only because you pick Evil does not mean you need to Kill all good. And try not to build something that will fight against each other in the group.
I know a few players that pick CE Barbarian feel they need to Kill everything, but Chatoic means (in my point of view) you care not to follow rules (but you know they are there) , Evil that you are more or less selfish , you take care of yourself and the people close to you and dont care if the world need to Burn to make it happen.
Of course there are beings that their sole purpose is just to crush and smash . Usually Evil born monsters

Hopefully 2 more players who wish to join apply and we can start a game.

                    Building Aros Nytharean

I built Aros and just wanted to make sure I properly created the character since this is my first pathfinder character. As a side note, do you know if it is possible to replace the character image in the TTW character sheet?

                    Ability scores 25 point yes
                    Class–wizard
Class skills–selected six of the wizard class skills.
Skills from traits–took Seeker to get Perception as a class skill including a +1 to the check
Took Magic Crafter which added a rank to the Craft magic item and a +1 bonus to appraise
                    Feats: Wizards get Scribe Scroll; Spell Focus for Conjurations spells;
                    Human bonus feat: improved initiative
                    Arcane School: Conjuration
                    Opposed Schools: Enchantment; Necromancy
Bonded Item: Ring cast any spell from spellbook even if not prepared
Spells: Do I need to type all the cantrips in the spells known section of the character sheet. I selected my 7 spells (3 spells at creation + 4 spells known based on int mod)
Do I understand correctly that at each level my character can add a skill rank or a hit point or an additional spell known? I added a Hit point at level one.
What is the XP requirement for the next level? I noticed that were 3 different choices in the Archives about advancement.

I knew before how to change it, seems to been an update to the sheet. Will look into it.

Can you post the link to your character sheet?

I use mile stones to level, so you don't need to keep track on it. But if you do play with the exp it looks like this.

The image on the sheet is a url. To replace it, you need only grab a link to the image of your choice, click the image box on the sheet, and replace the link within with your own. If the image is originally from your PC, just use an image-hosting site like imgur or postimg and grab that link.

The Nytharean name has always been synonymous with power, though rarely the kind you’d want to bring to a garden party. For generations, the family tree has been pruned into a gnarled collection of dark weavers and mind-benders.

                            The Nytharean Legacy
In the current generation, the siblings have carved out formidable, if frightening, niches:
                            • Valerius Nytharean: The eldest, an Eldritch Knight who bound the family’s arcane secrets to the edge of a blade.
                            • Lysandra Nytharean: An Enchantress of terrifying poise, capable of stripping a man’s will with a whisper.
                            • Morgath Nytharean: A Necromancer whose shadow always seems just a bit too long, obsessed with the boundary between life and death.
                            • The Twins: The youngest of the brood, two sorcerous wildcards whose latent bloodlines hum with untapped, chaotic energy.
                            A Radical Departure
When it came time for Aros to begin his formal studies, he chose a path that felt like a betrayal to his kin. He enrolled at the Argent Spire Academy, a prestigious institution that had never—in its several centuries of operation—admitted a Nytharean.

The Spire was defined by its Archmage, Master Alaric Thorne, a man whose disdain for "the manipulative and the macabre" was legendary. Under his tenure, the school became a bastion of purity; it hadn't graduated a necromancer or enchanter in a hundred years. Aros spent his years there caught in a personal tug-of-war between the School of Illusion and the School of Conjuration, ultimately finding a balance between crafting what isn't there and summoning what is.

                            Friends in Low Places
Aros didn't find much kinship among the elite scholars, but he did find a lifelong ally in Kepstonian "Kep" Longfinger. A gnome with more ambition than magical aptitude, Kep washed out of the Spire in his first year. Rather than head home, Kep stayed in the campus shadows, eventually becoming a rogue of significant reputation. The two spent their weekends in the local taverns, drowning the stress of arcane theory in heavy ales.

                            The Blood Feud
The Nytharean siblings did not take Aros’s choice of a "sanctified" school lightly. Lysandra viewed it as an insult to her craft, but Morgath viewed it as a challenge. Seeking to "cull the weak link," Morgath dispatched two apprentice necromancers to the Spire to eliminate his younger brother.

Fortunately, Kep’s ears were as sharp as his daggers. Alerted by whispers in the underworld, Kep intercepted the plot. Together, the wizard and the rogue turned the tables, leaving the two assassins dead in the dirt. To send a clear message, Kep decapitated the duo and had their heads delivered to Morgath’s doorstep. The package included an unsigned note stamped with the seal of The Black Hand, a notorious thieves' guild operating right under Morgath's nose.

                            A Fresh Start
The assassination attempt was the final straw. Upon his graduation, Aros decided that the only way to survive his family was to vanish from their sight. He packed his spellbook and disappeared into the night without a word to his siblings.
He has since resettled in the distant coastal trade city of Oakhaven, where the salt air masks his trail and the Nytharean name carries no weight. Here, far from the reach of Morgath’s shadows and Lysandra’s whispers, Aros is finally free to define his own magic.

Was originally thinking about making a gravewalker witch, but with the only other player atm being a wizard, that seems a poor choice. Might go with a Fighter instead. Not that it matters a whole lot if we don't get more people wanting to play.
