    Irmalinda and Karl meet Priest Lambert only to be turned away. Fortunately, they also meet an Anbieter minstrel named Anja who is eager to leave town. That evening, they are having a meal when one of the village guard hunds can be heard from the north gate.

    When Anja is turned away from the church, Karl, Irmalinda, and the newly introduced Schone barkeep, Avila, decide to try to escape south. It turns out escape is not a real option, but fighting is.

    The battle against the raiders in Eutin continues. In order to show them that Eutin is not a viable target, the party must make a big show of defeating their main slave wagon.

    A retaliation is expected from the raiders the night before. Karl, Irma, Anja, and Avila would have left, but the Dukeís orders were for everyone to stand and fight until his men arrived. Desertion is punishable by death. As a result, the better part of the day was devoted to preparations.

    Evidently, the raiders were actually Grunberg soldiers from a neighboring, hostile duchy. Scouts are sent ahead to confirm and their findings are less than pleasing.

    The attack starts! In the middle of the night, the Grunberg forces arrived. The first objective is to defeat the Grunberg archers, as long as they are able, they will suppress any village crossbowmen and the inevitable Grunberg battering ram will be uncontested until they break through.

    The Grunberg forces brought a battering ram. Shield bearers protect the men holding the ram against the Eutin crossbowmen but they are no match for a skill point-archer like Avila. However, when the Duke’s forces arrive, they bring more than just steel and muscle.
