Rian, are you trying to interact with the paintings or simply studying them?

trying to discern if he can tell the type of caster--sorcerer, wizard, warlock

The Towers cater to all 3 types. Warlocks, sorcerers, and wizards are all present, but it's not always easy to differentiate them just by looking at them. The robes denote their outlook on general magic. White robes believe it should be used for good. Red robes generally believe that magic should be open to all. Black tend to covet magic and become more power hungry over time. They also tend to offer power to some of the new recruits, only to find there are strings attached later on. These categories are almost analogous to saying that someone is "republican" or "democrat" in US political terms. There are exceptions and it is hard to sum up all of their motivations into 3 categories. But it's possible to have a white robed warlock or a black robed wizard, etc. Their robes generally tell you how they are roughly aligned, but some bending is possible. The best example of this is Sestun, the black robed person that you met in the first Tower. As best you can tell, he's not truly evil, but he is from the Lion tribe (like Hrothgar) and is making some questionable decisions in desperation to try to help his people.

Vort is low on spells too. He has 3 1st level and 1 3rd level slot left.

Hrothgar is Bear - His mother was from Lion, and his intended/'Promised' one is Lion. The "arranged time" for their marriage is past. So Hrothgar is searching for her as an obligation to find out what happened. (mostly cos his mother nagged him)... but its become more of a "wtf actually happened to the Lions" mission.

As for Nyssa - he was beginning to think she was dead.... (perhaps even secretly hoping so...) when that planar thing said she was still alive... so now its more of a "well she better have a bloody good reason for not showing up".

Sorry, yes. You're not lion, but have a strong interest in finding them. If you were lion, you'd likely be missing as well.

I'm a bit confused. Kal is gesturing to Brandon as if to use the door to access the divination chamber but the DM implied that the room we came from was the divination chamber with the inner chamber door still closed but permeating a stench... If we need another INT check to get to the divination chamber, here it is.

I wasn’t certain but assumed you might have to open it.
