    Post Chapter 3: Open Season

Mikai-Rah, Princess of the Sisters Hive, has called on you all as allies in her initiation into the Wild Hunt. While each of you might have individual reasons for participating, the fact of the matter is that the Formorians are up to no good as always, and everyone benefits from eliminating their threat. The group is able to travel to the village of Walcard, the largest wildman city structure and a home of their trade. While proud eladrin may claim that wildmen are backwards culturally, they are as able with technology in large civil groups as any other people, and Walcard suffers from no lack of comfort except those chosen by wildmen to keep their edge. Creations taken from the yield of the hunt and skilled works of weapons or art are the main outputs of the city. Hunter Til's home and his wife Grey Teacher are relatively close, though it will take more than a day for even the most adept ranger to make their way there.

A cunningly-constructed contraption forms the centerpiece of the market, though it seems more of a Rube Goldberg machine than anything else. It turns eggs into omelets, at least. Halfling engineer Narkfros Dayeiver is at the helm, watching with pride as his huge machine chugs along smoothly, mechanical hands beating eggs, tossing them onto a hot griddle, and forming them into the proper shape before clearing them off and preparing for the next person to be served. One man in line carries a huge egg from one of the predatory lizards that live in the jungle. He wears a pure white mask, which reminds you of the skeleton that accompanied the treacherous beefolk prince Berai. When this man sees Veta, he stops, jumps a bit in shock, and then drops his egg into the machine's hands, fleeing in a puff of magic smoke before he can receive his meal.

Dayeiver shrugs and simply offers the resulting omelet to whoever asks. "You all look like you've traveled a while. Stay at least long enough to rest before you head off into the Broken Teeth. You are here to settle the dispute, aren't you? Or maybe to explore the Verdarai Temple? I've heard that there's some strange stuff going on there."

Thoja'nnom actually separates when they hit the Market, distracted by something. During the trip, she has been more quiet, kept to herself... but she can be spotted at a booth with a craftsman as he carves images into a well-made bow for her, other works on display... a shop of enchantment.

When the bow is returned, it is marked with symbols of music- instruments, notes for written music, and curves displaying the 'flow' of sound. Even the bow itself seems to sing- Perhaps a song of mourning for your foes, or speaking of the tragedies Formorians and other evildoers have wreaked upon the Feywild.

Solen is incredibly curious about the white-masked man, but thinks that it may be best to speak to Til about that in a less public setting. Instead, he turns to the omelette makers and gives a warm smile, "I'm afraid that I haven't heard of the Verdarai Temple. What is it?"

"Speak of this dispute." Purity commands tersely, "Tell us all you know."

"It's a temple, but... Well, it's kind of mysterious. It's incredibly old, and no-one is quite sure what lives inside it, if anything. If the weather's bad enough, people will use it as cover, but the area beyond the initial threshold tends to disorient people." He waves off initial concerns that it's a haven for Formorians by confirming that it is not- not yet, at least. "I've heard people get all kinds of wealth from it, though the only thing anyone can agree on is that it's a place to find long-lost things. Supposed to be monsters, but nothing comes out that doesn't live outside. If the Formorians head in, it's likely they'll be looking for something from their glory days, before they were cursed."

He holds up his hands in defense. "Hold your horses, I don't have any dog in that hunt." But he explains anyways. "Giants and dwarves both live in mountains, right? Well, it became pretty much inevitable that they started fighting, because both groups hold grudges like mad and like fighting- hence more grudges, in perpetuity. The Formorians have been trying to join up with the goliaths and other giants, but the goliaths hate them, because they don't want to be associated with those freaks: If they did, they'd be fighting Lord Oberon." Conjuring an image of the starkly harsh mountain range in his palm, he warns, "The area's got a few safe havens, but just like anything else here, you'd best be ready to fight for every step. Every family has their own version of how it got started, so I don't want to give you the wrong idea by starting with one. Ask about Athunigala among goliaths or the Earthmail clan among dwarves."

"Alms!" A man is collecting gifts for the poor and handing out bread in return.
The white-masked man watches the group from afar, eventually pulling the mask down slightly to get a better view of the party.

It's possible to find a dwarven shopkeeper and a goliath weaponsmith here, if you want to hear stories.

Up til now, Veta had mostly been staying out of the way and observing, as she was out of either of her home turfs. However, something about the eladrin recognizing her and fleeing gives her a strange feeling, and she takes off after him.

Thanking the craftsman profusely, Thoja is moving to join the others - before she spots Veta staring down the Eladrin, who is running. Hmm? Hmm. Slinging the bow, she's moving to help the woman - chasing after the man as well, form popping as she advances ahead.

As the two make their way after the eladrin, a piece of breaking news comes in the form of a Wildman runner. He speaks first in his native language and then in Sylvian, the message the same both times.

"Formorians have intruded upon the Green Court once more! Corpses of local beasts have been found devoured by night, as well as campsites! Villages in distant areas have been attacked. Some of the fiends concentrate around the temple of Verdarai, another around the meeting-circle Galingeon, and there is another group headed towards the Broken Teeth with a small army in tow! The Wild Hunt calls upon the people of the land to pledge their loyalty to Oberon's effort to turning out the intruders! A small force of warriors and aides from each town is expected, under pain of vengeance for abandoning an ally that shields you."

Almost immediately, groups of men and women form up and demand more information. Without further prompting, they form up small scouting parties and larger groups to prepare to fight. If you present your group likewise, your talents and reputation will likely attract an important mission of your choice.

Solen turns to the others to find Veta and Thoja missing. He shrugged. He was sure they would be back. To those who are still there, he says, "I think this temple is the most strategic move we can make here. If the formorians are hoping to retrieve something there, then we have the opportunity to snatch it before they do and frustrate their plans. Past that, if they're risking so much for this incursion, then whatever they are after may be powerful enough to be of use to us in turning the tide here."
