Have we been told how many days this trip would last? ))
There are 9 wagons going on this journey. Ten people designated as guards (plus the party and Jamna), and 25 laborers. The wagons are not really suitable to stand on top of. They have seats for drivers, but are piled high with equipment and supplies covered over with tarps. There are about 4-5 faces that definitely stand out to you as having been on the previous journey and likely cultists. There are no dinner cart, salesmen, priests, or extra horses - this is a caravan put together by a specific group for a specific purpose.

Since they were assigned no specific posts around the caravan, Vala will just walk along with it,
frequently changing by which wagon she walks by, and at which side, thus getting the opportunity to keep an eye
on the cult members/wagon(s) & a clear line of sight to at least 2 of her group members at any given time.

Illimistra, disappointed to let Rezmir and the others get ahead of the group, nonetheless falls in and travels with an experienced eye looking out and a hand always hovering by her blade. They may not be real guards, exactly, but she'd do her job nonetheless.

Like Vala, she moves constantly, moving from wagon to wagon, listening here, watching there, and keeping her eyes on her companions when she can. Admittedly, she seems to be looking at Vala more than the others, though.

Unlike most of the others, Ignatius actually busies himself with the more mundane things, such as making sure the carts are secure, that the supplies are all set, and that everything is in place for the journey. He barely gives a nod to the gnome, but he does at least listen in to Mal and Andred... until the latter starts getting way into frogs and toads. At least it gives Ignatius something to think about as he finishes his own inspections.

Nothing seems tampered with, and supplies seem ample for your trip, which is supposed to take about 10 days. There are even extra supplies - this is a resupply trip for the road workers, anyway, so that makes sense.
The mere is a cold saltwater swamp named for the thousands of souls lost in it ages ago during an orc invasion. It has grown over time, devouring homes, property, and even some small towns, such as the town of Leilon. No one truly knows what ancient ruins lie buried in it, but it is definitely home to all sorts of foul creatures, and is also home to a black dragon known as The Black Death, who is said to be able to appear out of nowhere to bring death and destruction to those wandering in its territory.

On the morning of your second day of uneventful travel, you awaken to a bit of a surprise. Each of you finds a short note, as well as either a red stocking among your things or a red bow placed on one of your possessions. The notes have no signature, just a snowflake imprint.

Vala finds a stocking. Inside is a set of thieves' tools. Her note says, "Don't be naughty with these!" The thieves' tools are normal, but the tools specifically useful for disarming traps are of exceptional quality. You gain a +2 to checks made to disarm traps with these tools.

Grim finds a bow on his armor and a short note: "When the weather outside is frightful, take charge!" His armor has gained the Temperate and War Leader minor properties. (Temperate. The bearer suffers no harm in temperatures as cold as −20 degrees Fahrenheit or as warm as 120 degrees Fahrenheit. War Leader. The bearer can use an action to cause his or her voice to carry clearly for up to 300 feet until the end of the bearer’s next turn.)

Illimistra finds a new set of red and white colored wraps in her stocking. "Bundle up!" her note says. The wraps can be worn around her face for +1 to all saving throws, or around her hands and arms for +1 to AC. You can change them whenever you wish, but it takes a full minute to do so.

Ignatius finds a fine cloak in his stocking. It is currently red with white trim, but shifts appearance as he handles it. His note says "Whatever you're dreaming of, whether it's a white Christmas or peace on earth, this will help you find it." It is a cloak of billowing (as per XGE) with the War Leader and Illusion minor properties. (War Leader. The bearer can use an action to cause his or her voice to carry clearly for up to 300 feet until the end of the bearer’s next turn. Illusion. The item is imbued with illusion magic, allowing its bearer to alter the item’s appearance in minor ways. Such alterations don’t change how the item is worn, carried, or wielded, and they have no effect on its other magical properties. For example, the wearer could make a red robe appear blue, or make a gold ring look like it’s made of ivory. The item reverts to its true appearance when no one is carrying or wearing it.)

Mal finds a pair of black leather wrist cuffs (no chain, just the cuffs) with white fur lining and a snowflake stitched design on the inside. His note says "Always keep your off hand free. You never know when you need to grab a cookie or a glass of milk." His cuffs grant him the dueling fighting style while worn, but they only function for him.

Ardred beams with joy. "I got a new pair of walking boots! Just what I always wanted!" he yells across the caravan.

"Lump of coal again," Jamna says as she spits in disgust. "Somebody's got a weird idea of a prank."

Vala was about to have something for breakfast, after a night of uneasy sleep outdoors.
Searching for a ration she discovers the stocking in her backpack.
As she reaches inside, and retrieves the leather case, the rest of her group begun to wake and finding their own little treats.
A brand new set of lockpicks & tinkering tools. The lockpicks seemed to be ordinary but the rest of the tools where of the finest quality.
With a smile on her face, she wraps the leather case and puts her previous one at the bottom of her backpack, to use as spare if needed.

Most of her companions had already found their presents, and they were in the process of opening them or examining them.
"Nice ribbon you have there!" Vala says to Grim, who had just awaken and was going through his backpack, totally missing the ribbon
on his plate's shoulder. "It brings out the color in your eyes." She adds and looks at Illimistra, trying hard not to burst in laughs.
She then turns to Illimistra who had slept next to her "What you got?"

((OOC: Damn.. I feel bad for Jemna.. hmm.. was that a hint that she is no good? ))

Mal summons a sword. Unlike his usual weapons, the form now is more elegant and runic, the blade curving inwards on each side before returning to its normal shape at the tip. The hilt has black, gold, and green filligree. He looks down at in surprise, and feels more power flowing through it, a gift from his patron.

He then clips his new cuffs on and feels a lightness in the blade. He takes a few practice swipes with it, feeling the control flow from his cuffs to his hand and through the blade, like its an extension of his body. After a few moments, he holds his arm up, admiring his gift and smiles, releasing the blade into a vapour.

He will find the others and say, "good morning! When i was a child, i had heard stories of gifts like this. At the orphanage, we all thought they were made up by the richer folks as an excuse to give presents to their kids. I guess the stories were true though!" Mal is absolutely beaming.

Ignatius looks over the cloak with some confusion, then a bit of interest. He quickly straps it on, and changes it so that it appears to be a thick brown cloak, more fitting with the job at hand than anything else. He'll make his rounds just like anyone else, but when he encounters each of the members of the group, he will telepathically ask them if they have seen anything out of place so far, and if so, meet with him in private. He puts his newfound telepathic abilities to good use, covering multiple people at once if needed.

(Psychic Focus- Telepathic Contact: You gain the ability to use your Telepathy class feature with up to six creatures at once.)

Illimistra shows Vala - the others too, but mostly Vala, if we're all being honest - her new gift: red and white wraps that give her unarmored body an extra degree of defense.

"Quite valuable for one like me," she murmurs softly, thoughtfully, with a somewhat haunted look in her eyes.

(OOC: Thanks Rel! Cheers and happy holidays!)
