Without a single attempt at being stealthy Dorsard walks over to the lad and hands him the pouch with a look of mild amusement at his attempts at not being seen.
"There's mah part a tha bargain, now it's time for you tah complete yours. Where's this plant ye spoke of?"

The boy grabs the pouch and peeks inside. You can hear him counting under his breath.

"...five, six, seven..." He pokes his finger into the pouch and prods something out of the way. "...eight... nine. And..."

He turns his back to you, hunched over the pouch. You can hear a bit of paper rustling. The boy nods, stows the pouch in his pants pocket, and faces you again.

"Okay. About five miles south-east of town, there's a farm. This farm grows persimmons. Really big persimmons. So big that some people say they must be magic. But this farm doesn't have a license to grow magic anything, not even magic persimmons, and the inspectors that go down by the farm every now and then say they haven't found any signs of magic. But an acquaintance of mine once told me that even though the persimmon farm 'isn't magic', the land around it seems to be a decent growing place for plants of the magical variety. And by 'plants of the magical variety' I mean Twilight Dagger cactus."

"This acquaintance of mine used to sometimes harvest the cactus, only she had to be careful because the farmers shot arrows at her when they caught her at it, even though she wasn't actually going onto their property. And sometimes she'd get there and all the sap had been harvested already. Even though the farmers 'don't have anything to do with growing, harvesting, or selling magical plants of any sort'. But on her lucky nights, when the farmers were too drunk to shoot straight and nobody else had got to the cactus first, she could walk away with three or four or even sometimes five doses of sap.
    "

The boy smiles wistfully for a second, then shakes his head and goes back to his normal disinterested expression.

"So that's where you can find your free Twilight Dagger Sap. Try not to get shot. Oh, and the road to the farm is surrounded by jungle and sometimes you get ambushed by tigers or bandits or moving vines. You should bring a weapon or something."

Dorsards mind wars with itself as he listens to the boy speak. On one hand he could get the ingredient he needed to further his studies for free, and since it was from apparent criminals he didn't need to feel guilty. However, he had no skill whatsoever in stealth, and the journey to the farm sounded dangerous for a nighttime visit.
"Do ye know wha' tha farm is called? If Ah can learn more about it then this is good information. But if it's surrounded by tigers and bandits then ah'll need somethin' else to protect myself with. Those might even be out o' mah league for now."

As you speak with the boy, a drizzly rain starts dropping down on the town. The boy scowls and pulls his hood lower over his face, covering his eyes and the top half of his nose.

"It's called Pondicherry Farm," he says. "I don't know much more about it. I haven't met any of the farmers personally. They don't have a stall in the market or anything. They just make big deliveries to restaurants, I think."

The dwarf frowns to himself as he ponders his options. Deciding that discretion was the better part of valor he thanks the boy for the information after only a short pause, then immediately begins to search the town area for the local planning commission and land owner registry. This way he could potentially find out where the farm was and who owned it without walking around town asking people, which would tip the farmers off if they had half a brain combined.

You find out that the planning commission and the land owner registry are both located at Town Hall: a square, five story, white marble building in the center of town. The lobby is bustling with people. You see three counters at the back of the lobby. One is for checking in for appointments, one is for making appointments, and one is for emergency impromptu visits. There are at least fifty people in each of the first two lines, but nobody in the Impromptu line.

Dorsard silently curses as he asses the situation. He was horrible at making up excuses, so that excluded any plans that needed those. But as his father always said 'Where there's a will, someone's gotta pay', and so he approaches what he believes is one of the staff that isn't behind the counters.
"Excuse me, is there any way Ah can see what land is available in the area? Ah'm from a clan down south that would be interested in tradin if we could get a place to store our goods and operate.'"

A bespectacled half-orc man with his arms full of papers stops to help you with your query.

"Oh? What clan would this be?" he asks. "And did this clan make an appointment?"

Dorsard's fingers twitch as he sees the person talking to him has tusks and green skin, but realizes that unlike the others back home, this man wasn't a murderous savage.
"Um, Clan Sor. A mining clan. This was more of a factfinding mission, so we didn't make an appointment."

The clerk gives you a scrutinizing look, then shrugs and says, "The land registries and deeds are all in the Archives in the basement. Don't bring any flames down there."
