Sarvine keeps her eyes on the demons the entire time, ready for any movement toward her. It looked like she was invisible to them, but becoming lazy would get her killed. Gods only knew what else was in this ruin.
"You said that you could sense where my mother is. So, let's go there first and then see what we can find out about this place and her."

Lamashtu shrugs and leads Sarvine on through the desolate keep. At one point her stomach growls loudly.
"Balls. I'm hungry." she remarks. "Look, she's right over that way as far as I can tell, you go on ahead you'll be fine. The monsters won't bother you. I'm going to pop out for a snack. I won't be long." she announces and without waiting for Sarvine's response she vanishes leaving the tiefling witch alone. Probably ill at ease Sarvine continues the way they were going. Suddenly a massive demon stumbles out of a corridor into her path, the fourarmed monstrocity grimacing and wants to roar fiercly but is interrupted by a man dressed in black armor slamming into it and driving his sword deep into the demon's chest ending it's life. The man, black haired and strikingly handsome with palid and angular features laughs softly as she steps back and withdraws his blade with a foot on the demon's chest for leverage. Only when he retrieved his blade does he notice Sarvine and he's momentarily stunned.
"Oh... Hey, I didn't see you there. Hope I didn't scare you... Wait, you're a White Star? Your company rescued me and many of my friends barely a month ago! My name is Urfael, pleased to meet you." he says with a slight bow, recovering his smooth ways exceptionally quickly.

The urge to say something wells up in Sarvine as Lamashtu speaks, but it quickly dies as she realizes how pointless it would be to try to talk her out of leaving. Instead she focuses on moving as quietly as possible through the hallways to avoid getting noticed. Regardless of what Lamashtu said it would be just her luck to run into something that doesn't obey the budding goddess.

She jumps and immediately prepares to fight the demon. When it's instead turned into a shishkabab she gives the newcomer an impressed look. It wasn't easy to kill something that big in one hit, so this man had to have some experience on him.
"You were from the other plane overrun by demons, right? I guess that's where you gained the talent in killing them so quickly. Sarvine Namia, of the Alabaster Squad." The sudden introduction leaves Sarvine a little panicked. Bufo notices and his eyes narrow in a smile. He leans out of his pocket and tugs on her sleeve until Sarvine raises her arm so he would stop. The end result is it appears that the witch is raising her hand for it to be kissed, like some noble lady. She goes rigid as Bufo softly croaks out laughter, pleased with his effort to get his master out of her comfort zone.

The young man takes Sarvine's hand in a solid grip and shakes it instead of kissing it.
"Yeah, that's right. Mesurat. Glad to be away from here. I..." he starts but is interrupted by the demon croaking and beginning to stir. "Bloody hell, can't you see we're talking here? Excuse me miss Sarvine for a moment." he says and turns back to the defeated demon. With a swing he severs the fly-like head of the monster and let's it drop to the floor. "Apologies. As I was saying, I'm working for the Mage Guild at the moment. Paying off debt. They have me harvesting reagents like this moron's head. Mages and their fetch and go quests huh?" he continues, picking up the head and bagging it. His smile is contagious.

With a silent sigh of relief Sarvine drops her hand and pointedly shoves Bufo further into the pocket while buttoning the top closed.
"I know what that's like." Sarvine chuckles a little awkwardly. "How many of these have you been doing? And if its not too private, what debt? Did the mages charge you all for coming back over? Did they cast a spell to stop your friends from degenerating further?"
She's actually a bit curious at the notion, if stopping a being-to-demon transition was even possible.

"Oh a couple." He says with fake modesty. "Yeah they charged us alright. They're still charging most of us for room and board. They didn't cast any spells. Turns out the change was brought on by prolonged presence here on Mesurat. When they went back it was halted but not reversed. They offered curing spells but those are 3000 platinum each so, that's not going to happen any time soon. Luckily that's not my concern anymore." He explains. "What about you? What are you doing here?"

Nodding along, Sarvine acknowledges that at least the change stopping was good. The rest- that was normal Misthaven.
"Well, I decided it was past time for me to find out what happened to my parents after I left this plane, but it wasn't like -this-. " She waves out a window at the blasted landscape, where nothing was alive.
"It's hard to imagine that all it took was a few years to kill a world, but it could have been spreading when I was still here. I don't suppose you've seen any humans around? In a cell or anything?"

"Uh... No, sorry. But I haven't exactly been looking either. If you want I can help you look?" The eye-candy says with a smile. "Hey, you should realize that time here moves faster than it does in Mysthaven. We were stuck here for decades while back home barely a handfull of years had gone by. So... That might explain what looks like rapid decline but actually isn't."

"That makes sense. And would explain a lot actually. I hadn't remembered that detail because I wasn't part of the group that rescued you guys."
She gives a smile in return, a hesitant, shy little thing.
"How about a trade? You help me find my mom, and I can help you gather the ingredients you need. Although it looks like you don't need any, O Slayer of Demons."

"Oh no. I must decline. It would be much of a deal if the price I would have to pay was in fact a benefit. Besides, I already have what I came here for. But I'll escort you, just for the pleasure of your company." he answers with a smile, all white teeth and devilishly good looks.
Together the two tieflings walk deeper inside the crumbling demonic stronghold. He doesn't walk first, nor does he act as if Sarvine is at any time in need of protecting or aid but he's always there; gallantly ready with a hand or a motion to circumvent ferocious demons wandering the halls. Noble ladies would view his behavior as rude and boorish, the more down to earth outskirts warrior women would view it as pleasingly considerate.

After a while you come to a room deep within the bowels of the fortress. The black iron door is closed but doesn't seem locked or barred and sobbing can be heard coming from within. As Urfael pushes open the door the room is proven to be barren except for a barbed iron cross hanging on heavy chains from the ceiling. The limbs of the cross are slightly concave and on each end the sharp end pierces the wrist and/or ankle of a pale woman dressed in rags. Beside being impaled on the cross she is held in place by barbed wire wrapped tightly to keep her secure. Her hair is matted and gray and her face is wrinkled; yet the resemblance to Sarvine is there, especially around the eyes.
"Oh..." Urfael says under his breath. "I didn't realize your mother was dead. My condolences." he says awkwardly. The woman doesn't seem to react to the opening of the door or his voice.
