Default Top of Round 33: Heroes, Once More Into the Beach

Flint and Ulvenn beset the hag underwater, lost from view to those on the shore or the ships and surrounded by the bracing chill of brackish water. Their spell-gifted movements and breathing are unrestricted, though.

The younger narrowly misses with his cold iron dagger and the elder connects with Ishareen's oddly solid air elemental cranium with his adamantine giant bane battle axe, which flares with golden energy on contact.

Lucianna executes a daring drop that stops five feet off the ground and springs toward the giantess. She reaches deep within herself for the power of her ancestors, and this time it’s not only her four horns which grow and curve. The halfling’s skin goes red and hot enough the air shimmers around her, and she shoots up to twelve feet tall with extending silver claws and eyes that burn as white flame.

"Hey!! You!! Fight me, сука!" She blurts out.
By the way the haughty giant glowers, right at her, the sorceress can tell her challenge worked. A less brash sort of person might have thought it worked too well.

Agni studies her bold descendant, now about as tall as herself. Inspiration strikes. She twirls her fiery fizzing falchion and the new efreeti grows again. When the enlarging spell takes hold Lucianna can meet the storm giant’s crackling gaze with her own!

Commander Sternshard watches the efreeti pair squaring off with the storm giant and harrumphs. "Woon't even get tae 'em in time fae any bluidy pointers," he remarks to his halfling companion.

"Is there nothing you--?" the Andoran begins, but he's waved silent.

Sternshard does the best he can, humming a sea shanty and sending a bolstering spell of grace and speed to the red-skinned warrior women.

    OOC:

    Heroes Round 33

    1. Flint fly up to 60 ft and drop into water drop 5 ft below surface into G67 (assuming avoids AOO),
+1 cold iron frost dagger attack on sea hag…miss

**No Readied Action was declared (holding Standard attack until someone flanked) and nor did the text describe Flint waiting for Ulvenn to flank either. But even if hypothetically +2 flank made it 24 instead of 22, the attack misses.

    2. Ulven fly up to 60 ft and drop into water drop 5 ft below surface into H64 (assuming avoids AOO),

    4. Lucianna drop, then Move/Fly Skill check halt self 5 ft up, works
Standard activate sorcerer bloodline to change into efreeti form

**Agni (still 5 ft up or less)
Standard enlarge person on new efreeti, Lucianna

***Lucianna now has about 20 ft of height at 15 foot space and 15 foot reach with her (magical/silver eldritch claws…any other physical weapons also enlarge with her)

Enlarged Efreeti Form Luci stat block (by GM calculations)

NPCs: Tammerhawk and 2 malenti keep each other busy.
Sternshard cast haste (Metamagic Reach) on Lucianna and Agni (11 rounds)
Sternshard’s companion rows for shore, advance 30 ft inland

Default Bottom Round 33 Villains: What a Beach

Screams escape as bubbles from Ishareen when Ulvenn cleaves into her. But the sound morphs into a cackle as she summons the powers of the deep to heal herself and surround her enemies with three great white sharks.

The snapping jaws miss Ulvenn and Flint each once, but another set latches onto the Taldan’s leg and sends agony shooting through him.

Fortunately his ragged wound that surely would have bled badly closes itself, albeit with the ominous pulsing of those invasive blue spores from Bello’s lab.

Ianthe charges Lucianna and deals a glancing blow with her greatsword down the efreeti's arm which nonetheless sets her skin on fire---and not pleasantly so. But in her new gigantic form the Red Genie is able to work through the pain and retaliate...

    Default

Flint swims down with the hag, using pang and frostbite with deadly precison to strike at the hag, doing his best to keep his defences up to avoid the worst the sharks can do to him

  4. #1304

    Default

Ulvenn conjures Remembrance with a quick flick of his wrist... but fighting in water is far different from fighting on land. The Ulfen warrior uses each swing to build momentum for his next strike as blow after blow rain in on the hag. He gives only a fleeting look to his left at the shark before continuing to pursue and attack the hag... He would deal with the creature when its master had been reduced to chum...

  5. #1305

    Default

Ulvenn conjures Remembrance with a flick of his wrist as he pursues the hag downwards. He spares but a moment to look at the shark conjured beside him but knows more will come should he defeat this one... until the hag has been reduced to chum.

He works his blades off he other, using each strike to provide an anchor from which to swing another blade at the hag.

The two creatures of fire close in, Agnayasta flanking the giant with old cunning, changing her grip on her falchion.

    And they pounce!

Default Top Round 34 Heroes: Sushi Go

In the two Riddleport ships the battle continues to rage between the townsfolk and the sea monsters serving Ishareen---but far fewer than previously. The Heroes of Harmony and Chaos are unaware of this, caught up in their own struggles.

Through great discipline the two partners formerly of the same order of assassins ignore the giant great white predators surrounding them and darting in to try to feed one them. Instead they focus their deadly arts on the hag.

Flint’s first stab is countered by a spell that causes her elemental air body to dissipate so his blade cuts through without finding a vital spot, but his next few find a deadly mark.

Ulvenn performs his usual blade dance with the giant baned greataxe but Remembrance fares well with the new partner and the hag’s body is rent bloody. The three sharks thrash their heads in excitement.

A flare of orange healing magic from some coral necklace is not enough to revive the deep-dwelling crimelord. The troll-blooded sea hag Ishareen goes limp, head bowed, arms spreading out like wings. Her enchanted short spear drops from her fingers and sinks out of sight in the dark water even as her body drifts upward toward waves sparkling with the Sarenrite’s brilliant spell.

By this moment it is apparent that the sahuaguin are doing nothing whatsoever to aid Ishareen despite having served as her shock troops and spies for months. Perhaps, as Prince Dagron predicted, the loss of his brother Urthas has cost her their loyalty?

On the shore Agni maneuvers behind the storm giant, suffering a sword slice across her midriff as she does so. Nevertheless she stands her ground and stabs with all her might, burying her falchion deep into the purple-skinned spine and searing the flesh around the wound. The giant hollers.

Lucianna lashes out with her new silver claws and scores bloody trails three times across the giant’s face and neck, choking off Ianthe’s earlier bellow of rage. The giant’s eyes flash like lightning and her jaw clenches.

In the boat Lieven Ott hisses to Commander Sternshard “Can’t you help the Red Genie anymore? Or at least hinder her foe before she starts swinging?”

The dwarf grunts affirmation and chants a new spell intended to make the storm giant sluggish as though she were chest deep in sand. The violent toss of her head suggests she shrugged off his influence. “Nae good,” he mutters. “If ye believe, ye best get prayin’.”

    OOC:

    Heroes Round 34:

    1. Flint 5 ft swim step down, first attack heroic reroll 33 is enough, 10 dealt

**GRT Immediate interrupt spell windy escape concentration check 20 sufficient, no sneak attack this time

Flint second attack heroic reroll 34 is enough, 31 dealt +2 Strength damage (and he gets +4 dodge AC)

Flint third attack heroic reroll 25 is enough, 22 dealt +2 Strength

Flint final attack 27 is enough, 27 dealt +2 Strength (total 90)

    2. Ulvenn 5 ft swim step down, makes 2 attacks that miss (23/24) and 4 that hit, plus one successful crit and rend. Total dealt 142

    3. Agni (with haste) Fly/Move action to…square whose coordinates player will announce next round, to flank (for now, placing her in R51/S51 and R52/S52 and flying 5 ft up (or 10 or 15 ft up, player’s choice)

**movement greater than 5 ft provokes AOO from giant with 15 ft reach, GRT 38 and damage dealt 33

Agni (some adjustments here) crits with +1 flaming shocking falchion in single Standard attack after Move action (19, total 33 ; crit confirm reroll on Planner 25 is enough), total dealt 34

    4. Luci (with haste) 3 claw attacks plus “heat” fire damage from her skin contact (2 heroic rerolls) hits on 35, 23, and 24 (giant lost 2 AC from charging) and total dealt 55

HERO POINTS: Flint and Luci spent 3 each and have 7 left each. Ulvenn has 10.

NPCs: Commander Sternshard casts slow on storm giant (metamagic reach) but GRT her 25 Will save negates
Lieven Ott and the dwarf commander of the giant-hunting Order of the Black Arrow advance another 30 ft toward shore in their little boat

Default Bottom Round 34 Villains: Chum or Chump

The three sharks are too wild with bloodlust to catch the agile men.

Ianthe is too wild with rage with land proper blows, and slashes into Agni's and Luci's shoulders only once each in her attempts to try to make them fall back.

    It doesn't work.

The Red Genie can see that that storm giant's wounds are even worse than her own (and about as bad as poor Agni's). Although the giant surely has more power in her swings, she has less endurance to stay in the fight...

Flint gives a look of disgust as the hags body stitches itself together before his vary eyes. He brings pang to his lips and clenches the blade between his teeth, drawing out a vial of acid from his handy haversack, he balls a fist around it and punches the hag in the mouth, leaving the vial between her teeth, he hits her again, shattering the vial
