"Rocks? It's a barn. Can you not see it's made of wood? I can cut through that in seconds." Katharina answers.

"Then get choppin', m'lady!" the dwarf gruffs. "I wanna get the hells outta this place. I'm gettin' drenched by the rain as it is!"

'Seconds should work quite well. Please proceed miss Durmond.'

As you discuss your options, the fire has really caught on behind you, quickly spreading to devour the decrepid farm house and the corpses of its deformed inhabitants. There is no risk of the fire spreading to the barn or the forest, however - the steel clouds above are growing ever darker and soon large drops of rain begin to fall.

Determined to carve her way through the barn, Katharina finds a seemingly weak spot down one of the sides of the wooden structure. The Grauls have not exactly spent a lot of effort maintaining the timbers and the wall is quite rotten in places. Making sure her companions are ready for the assault, she starts hacking away at the wall. The timber cracks and splinters fly and before long, her sharp blade has cut a roughly 3 by 5 feet opening in the wall - wide enough for a medium sized person to slink through, one a time. It only takes a short while, but the noise does alert whoever is inside, giving them a few moments to gather their senses.

The barn houses several mounds of molding hay, grain stores, and even a large but crude still. Two catwalks rise up along the walls, leading to doors near the ceiling in an inner east wall seperating the main room from the rest of the barn. Lower, a pair of massive doors, boarded over with thick timbers, allows ground access through the inner wall. Several dingy kennels are built into the walls under the catwalk on the opposite side from where Katharina cuts her hole. The kennels seem to be empty.

In the middle of the room, three of the horrid deformities are standing confused at the sudden entry from a surprising direction. One is a hulking brute with a vestigal arm growing from his left elbow and a no-neced, dented head. The second is a tall and surprisingly handsome boy towering over the other two. His eyes are huge and milky white, and his skin pale as the full moon. The last one is the shortest of every family member you have seen so far, standing barely 5 feet tall, with crooked stumpy legs and constantly twitching skin.

The three boys are initially surprised, but they react on instinct at the noise - drawing their shortspears and turning in your direction to face the new threat.

((The Grauls recover from their surprise during the time it takes Katharina to cut the hole wide enough to allow passage. Effectively, things proceed from here according to regular initiative. There is a hole in front of Katharina - it is wide enough that everyone can move through it without penalty at a straight angle, but not diagonally. You can also attack through the hole at a straight angle, but not diagonally.))

((Katharina, Joyya and Paulo are the first to respond))

Joyya stumps past his companions and stands before the first foe through the hole, shocking flail and lion shield in hand. He strikes at the nearest Graul while calling, "C'mon, you lot, there's only three of 'em! I like them odds, even!"

(OOC: On a side note, damn good to have you back, Abber! I never gave up faith, but I admit I wavered a bit there. Awesome to see the longest-running PbP game I know keeps rolling along!)

    Default Round 1

The sturdy dwarf is first through the breach, and in his usual no-nonsense fasion, he smacks the short ogrekin over his dense face with his flail sizzling with potent energy. His lionhead-crested shield fails to connect, however. Blood-tainted spittle hits Joyyas beard as the ogrekin hisses in surprised pain.

((The ogrekin is still standing. Katharina and Paulo are next))

Katharina, not to be outdone by the uncouth dwarf, follows closely to take up position beside him. Ready to lock shields she swings at the monster before Joyya.
