Katharina can't help a smile crawl on her otherwise stern face. She quickly catches herself though and shouts out to Joyya.
"Ser Loadstone, tackle him! Act like he's a... Barrel of beer!"
She drops everything she's holding herself and steps forward to grapple and restrain Shalelu.

But she bungles it. It's harder than it looks to grapple someone that lithe while she's doing something that is soliciting uproarious laughter from you.

Paulo gets ready to...wait, what was he about to do again? He pulls his upraised arm down and looks dumbfounded, until his attention is called by Jakardros and Shalelu's 'antics'. "What in the bloody hell's going on??" he shouts...noticing the very dead ogre witch not far away in a heap on the floor. Wasn't she very much alive and threatening them seconds ago?

His head cocks to the side as Shalelu starts bashing herself with her bow, and Katharina...goes in for a hug?? 'That's an odd time for a bit of affection,' he thinks to himself.

Well, he doesn't know what's happening with those rangers, but he flicks his sword out and tries to disarm Shalelu. Whatever she's doing can't be good.

"Aye, I'm the fuckin' teapot," Joyya grunts.

Turning to Amadeus, he adds, "You got another one o' those dispellin' spells, mage? Ol' Jak here could use it, I do believe."

Finally, to Paulo, he says, "What's goin' on is that ol' ogre witch spelled ya and spelled ya good. Did the same ta Jak here, as ya can see'n'hear. Our troubles ain't over though, even if the big bitch herself is deader'n'a'doornail. The iron jawed fella ran off somewheres...and my guess is we ain't seen the last o' 'im."

    Default Round 9

Shalelu manage to easily worm herself out of Katharinas embrace, but she is virtually defenseless against Paolo, who nimbly svirps her bow out of her hands with a twist of his blade.

Amadeus continues to concentrate on the magical items he has sensed, blocking out the chaos in the hallway. He zeros in on the distinct auras and learn a few more details. It would appear that the ogre chieftains hide armor emanates faint magic, his weapon and his belt both emanate moderate magic and two vials of liquids hanging from his belt are both faintly magical.

Shalelu blinks a couple of times and looks around looking even more confused as she did before, seeing both Katharina, Paulo and Joyya standing so close to her. "What.....what the hell happened?" she demands weakly. Meanwhile, Jakardros continues to speak nonsense, "Horses and goats - all around the clock tower, with cranberry soup, we dance into the night. Have you ever seen anything more sweet and tender?", but at least he makes no hostile moves.

Katharina doesn't make a further attempt at groping the young elf girl. She motions with her palms forward:
"Calm yourself! The ogress messed with your head. Hand over the bow. It'll probably pass soon."

    Default End of combat

It takes a while for the confusion effects to subside and during that time you witness the rangers switch seemlessly between periods of babbling incoherently, trying to hurt themselves or others and a few seconds of relative clarity. But eventually, the watery fog seems to lift from their eyes and they come to their senses once again.

Jakardros seems to take the whole experience with stoic calm - "Sorry about that - don't know what came over me...", but Shalelu appears visibly shaken by the experience. She plumps down onto the floor with her back against the wall burying her pale face in her palms - not weeping, but trying to shut the world out for a few moments. For the short time you have known her, she has always seemed cool and determined and in total control of her actions and emotions. To find that she is suddenly in no control of her own actions has been a horrible experience for someone like her. Jakardros kneels down beside her, whispering soothing words in her ears.

A moment of relative calm follows. Still no signs of Ironjaw or Lucrecia, who disappeared without a trace down in the basement. Also, you see or hear no signs of other immediate threats in the area. But calm is still a relative term - you can hear the incessant pouring rains hammering against the roof of the Fort and though the open door you hear distant thunder.

((You are out of combat and can act freely. I decided to fast forward through the rest of the confusion effect - the consequences are minor when you do not have enemies to concentrate on at the same time))

Katharina picks up and sheathes her blade as well as secures her shield back in place. With the ogre chieftain's head in her one free hand she calls out:
"Come on, form up! Let's check the rest of these halls and make sure no other cretins still linger. We'll deal with the runner when we are certain the inside is clear."
She leads the way, light shedding shield ready, and checks the other rooms here.
