Default Significant events, clues, hints and history notebook.

Many times significant events or information is come upon. Perhaps in depth speculation leads to serious theories about what is going on.
It is handy to have such info written down and concentrated in one place because the slow pace of pbp means the risk is run that things are forgotten.
This thread is here for you all to take note of such info and to feel free to post theories and speculate.
In fact I urge you to do so.

Tarsus and Sarvine harbor fear and suspicion, respectively, that li'l Lamashtu's mother of the same name is actually the goddess Lamashtu. Little Lamashtu was being held captive with other tiefling and cambion children for undoubtedly nefarious purposes. There was a bloody altar involved.

A mysterious human skilled with the sword turned Eris into a vampire.

The priests of major religions know something troubling about raising the dead to life, and the only people known by us to be able to cast True Resurrection are at the churches of Sarenrae, Asmodeus, Urgathoa and Lamashtu before that church collapsed some years ago, as told to Tarsus by Clara.

    On Free Companies:

The Red Flag shows special interest in The White Star. Possibly just a business dispute, possibly more. Only notable member that I can think of is Yuki, a Kitsune of apparent rank similar to Tarsus and Tsukohari, and who may be leading a Red Star faction willing to defect to the White Stars. Also, Tarsus harbors a crush for her.

We have also met the Five Feather Free Company, led (and now ruled) by Toshiro Five Feathers. There was an attempted coup against him that he put down on the night of the burning of the Brilliant Labyrinth. We have ingratiated ourselves to the Five Feathers by dealing with the Bad Moon infestation within Tengutown.

Further history on the White Star provided by Toshiro Five Feathers:

You humies really are new aren't you? Bro, the White Star was the best free company there was up until five years ago. They had the best missions, all the guilds wanted their services and nobody screwed them over. That is, until they did themselves in. I don't know the whole story, I never was a hightown kind a bird. But the way I hear it was that there were three commanders, and each one took care of another kind of business. They say that they got handed a mission from the Despot himself, got called up to the top palace and all. When they came back, about a month later they all started fighting each other. Nobody knows why, at least not around here. It was bloody war in the streets. Different guilds sided with different commanders and the whole city threatened to descend into civil war. But then the guilds all pulled out of the conflict at the same time. The fighting took a week but after that not much was left of the company. Calhoun was the head of the White Star chapter right in the Outskirts here. I don't think he was very high up the chain of command, I mean what high and mighty wants to be stationed in the Outskirts? But he was good. He kept the peace and kept his part of Misthaven and the White Star out of the fighting. When it was all over the guilds slapped the last remaining member of the company with the bill for the damages. That was him. He had to sell off everything the company had and lay off all the employees he had kept safe so that he could even start to pay that fine. I heard he went out into the mists on Emerald and Onyx missions…" Toshiro says. He pauses as he sees your confusion about the gem-names. "Emerald missions are bounty hunting missions, hunting criminals, dangerous monsters, tracking down dangerous and rare materials; that kind of stuff. Onyx missions are high risk high reward missions, they're called suicide missions for a good reason. I guess he saved up the remaining gold for his outstanding debts that way. Personally, I thought he was dead. Whatever the case, a lot of people still remember him and the company fondly around these parts. Not so much the higher up you go…"
The Bad Moon crime syndicate was not a free company. It was organized crime. After the burning of the Labyrinth, we may or may not have destroyed the entirety of their top leadership.

    From Mesurat:
The two Stitched Together Wolves' forms seem to waver slightly for a moment before disappearing and reappearing suddenly next to Sarvine, intent on devouring the tiefling witch for which they seem to harbor an intense hatred.

Updates: It also seems that five years ago, there was a fight deep underground, past the "Black Gates". There, a good number of White Star fought the cult of Lamashtu, many perishing on either side. Tsukohari, Sharlot, and Sarvine discovered a tale that they had come after a priestess, cutting open her pregnant belly and using it as a portal to enter the demon lady's realm. Most bodies are accounted for, except one of the commanders. The crazed priestess, which they met and subsequently killed, also told of a pregnant gnoll who appeared to her suddenly, and of the cambion within.

After talking with some temples, Tsukohari, Tarsus, and Sarvine talked with the Undertakers, who see much more than they give on. Perhaps a secret society, people seeing all? In any case, with sharing information, they learned that resurrections don't work anymore unless the caster is closely-connected to the recipient of the spell. There is unbalance, and after sharing what they had learned, came up with a theory. This all suggests that perhaps the young Lamashtu isn't just the daughter of the goddess, but the goddess herself, reincarnated. That, in turn, suggests that if that is the case, then the gods and goddesses may be busy trying to fight for Lamashtu's abandoned domain, or not filling it correctly, and the wheel is unsettled, making divine magic strange these five years.

    Current list of contracts:

King Garreth of Garvuug - Adamantine and Mithril. All finished works made of the precious metal are 60% the first year, 65% the next, 70% the third, so on and so forth until it stays at a flat 90%. There's a minimum purchase of 50,000 gold per year.
    * Toshiro Five-Feathers - Brokerage. They put in orders for finished works as above, and the White Star will deliver, adding on a 10% fee. This still means that armor and weapons, even tools out of these, only cost the Five-Feathers 66% of what they would...which would increase to 71.6% the second year, 77% the third, etc. etc., and probably with a cap-out at 88% for year 5 and year 6, 90% at year 7, if all the contracts last that long.
    * Dmitry Bleeding Eyes - Brokerage. Same deal as above with the Five-Feathers, in good faith that the underground Free Company will scratch the White Star's back in return.

First of the Shaded Scream Colony - Shelter. In exchange for protection and a mutual understanding that the Dark Folk will take residence in the tunnel just below the White Star fortress, the White Star will provide (at least)one humanoid heart per full moon(month). Since this is their private avenue into the Undercity, and since they fight a lot of humanoids, this is just a matter of business. Tsukohari also extended a hand of solid friendship, suggesting that if there is strife, that the White Star will harbor them if necessary. It was said that the more sinful and dark the human, the blacker their heart...and the tastier. Also of note are that these folks compete with ghouls for said hearts, and have no love for them. Perhaps looking into the increased number of those is prudent?

    Trail of the Black Seed:

Cult of Urgathoa - It was in the Walled Garden district, plagued by shadows and disease, that the Obsidian Team of the time discovered a truly horrifying thing. Black Seed, diminutive sand-like substance, and also a powerful drug, is created by infusing someone with the energy from the Plane of Shadows at the time of their death, which causes their soul to turn into the little things. The team discovered the generator, with a funnel up top, and shut it down.
Cult of Lamashtu - This generator was found within an altar, deep within the Black Gates. It seems that the Cult was sacrificing people, as normal, but the altar would take their souls and store them inside, like a chest. There was black seed stuck to the sides, and a little bit within, suggesting to the Alabasters present that someone had been taking the big shipments and reusing it five years ago.
