Default Prologue: "Who Sows the Seeds of Chaos..."

stepping up to the runes Skie mutters a few words and his silver eyes turn electric blue as he sees in the blue of the magic spectrum. "be careful my friends these runes are very dangerous"as Skie looks around the room he says aloud what each rune does and will lead his companions through the runes as safely as possible.

At a cursory glance one thing was certain: these runes were meant to be seen, to warn off anyone who ventured near.

Skie reaches out with his magic, a kind of sixth sense he owes to his blue dragon heritage. The longer he concentrates the more he sees, including which auras pulse more strongly.

The deep blue color of the runes' auras indicates abjurations, universally at first. But with his sixth sense focusing on the wards, some of their auras shift color. Some auras are actually red-gold, the color of evocations which are his specialty. These gold toned wards seem ready to trigger explosively loud sounds. The true blue wards actually are abjurations and seem designed to emit intense clarion warnings if an intruder passes over them. The remaining wards in his sorcerous sight become iridescent, including the ones on the doors---and that means illusions.

Assuming that Nisha's magic or some other effect had concealed these runes from them before, Skie suddenly understands how Bello could cross the floors with his cart without ever setting off the runes, and how he could let himself in and out of the doors without incident. Over half of these wards are fakes.

The two doors are not actually warded at all, though they are probably locked.

And the false runes on the floor form a perfect cross pattern that can be walked over safely. So long as Skie maintains concentration he can tell the others exactly where to tread---and so he does.

The Academy has been to cheap or too clever for its own good when setting these snares, and that means the Academy can be beaten.

    OOC:

Skie correctly identifies which runes are illusory (and safe to tread on or disturb...including the ones on the doors), which ones use the sound burst spell to deal psychic damage, and which ones use the alarm spell to emit a warning claxon.

Flint pulls on the doors just to make sure they are locked "They locked them" Flint assures everyone. "I could pick the lock, but I don't have anything strong enough, or thin enough to do it"

Flint looks at his team mates, first at the physically stronger Thurak, nothing against his race but he couldn't be trusted, for all we know he could be a plant, and working with Bello, assuming this whole situation wasn't just another one of the lizards tests. "Angel-face, think you could brake the door down, without waking the neighbors?"

With a smirk Skie looks back to his companions "they are mostly just to ward people off follow me and I can get you out with a fair amount of ease."

Cringing inwardly I really hope this angel face thing doesn't catch on. Mammon treads through the runes carefully, examining the door Skie asked about. "I think I could manage it." With a few attempts and much more noise than was promised, one door finally comes down.

The iron reinforcements on the door to the left cannot withstand Mammon's repeated, calculated assaults on the wood in between them, and the door gives way in a series of loud splintering cracks.

On the other side is a closet with a large sink basin with a water pump and soap and towel. Bello's wooden metal cart on wheels is there too, but empty except for four of his white lab coats. The coats are made for the professor's build, slender and narrow shouldered but not so small a human's arms couldn't fit.

Their find is a bit disappointing, bringing them no closer to their goal...unless some creative use could be made of its meager contents.

The remaining door, upon examination, is also well reinforced and will be equally tough to break down...

    OOC:

Save a door for Thurok too, he was so looking forward to it...

And please go easy with any talk suggesting a PC is untrustworthy...the whole "we met at least four months ago" setup was designed to avoid this so that roleplay and teamwork could be smooth between you all. Flint could be a little paranoid given Bello's methods but for four months you've all seen Thurok drugged and put through the same hell you were and he isn't exactly one to conceal his thoughts and feelings, right?

Default Prologue: "Who Sows the Seeds of Chaos..."

Skie walks in to the room with the cart and his mind starts to race " do you think that the three of us could pass as professors? It could certainly keep away some unwanted attention. And Thurok my friend the other door seems to have real bindings on it do you think you could make it through?"

Thurok, glad to have his great strength recognised, runs down the hall, his shoulder braced in front of him and ready to batter down the door. The door tears off its hinges with a great crack, falling to the floor splintered. He turns around and shoots a toothy grin at his friends down the hall, pretending the sharp pain in his shoulder and forearm isn't there.

"That was impressive" Skie says nodding his approval and patting the big guys shoulder to go take a look in the room carrying one of the lab coats with him

"Yes, quite impressive." Mammon enters the room and grabs a white lab coat. Holding it up by the shoulders in front of him he says, "This would fit me more like a shirt... perhaps the guise of having two professors and a guard escorting a prisoner will be sufficient."
