Mills wastes no time getting to work, drawing a dagger from his belt that he uses as a makeshift spade.

"I most certainly will not", Arasmes answers with indignation, "calluses aren't pleasing to look at. Can't the creatures dig out their own den?"

Arasmes moves 60' away from the party and starts moving his arms and uttering words of arcane power to cast silent image (CL 2, six 10' cubes), creating a figment of a hollow rock (hollow on the inside, there are no entrances leading to the inside) surrounding the dig site (20' x 30' x 10', will DC 16 disbelief if interacted with, no save otherwise).

Spellcraft DC 24 (15 + 1(spell level) +2(magical flair) + 6(+1/10' of distance)) to recognize the spell as it is being cast, failure by 2 or more (20-22) makes the observer believe that Arasmes cast Authentic Forum Dice-roll(1d15) [1] alter musical instrument instead. Failure by 5 or more (19 or lower) makes the observer believe that Arasmes cast wall of stone instead.

"There, now they can dig without being interrupted.", Arasmes says as he walks inside and outside the seemingly solid rock.

Oru pays attention to Arasmes once he leaves and starts moving his arms around. When he is finished Oru says,"What did you just do? After he asks the question he is going to use his kamas to start to tear up the land and once it is soft enough he is going to start using his hands.

"It's just a cover from prying eyes so the creatures can dig in peace. Once I stop concentrating, it will disappear."

Lith calls ahead as she comes to a halt, "Hold on, that will be far easier with a longer haft. More leverage." She takes a pair of spears from the pseudo-quiver against her back and tosses them over by Mills and Oru. "One moment and I shall help."

She unties the pelt covering her shield arm, placing it down beneath a skeletal shrub within the illusionary barrier, and gingerly sets down the young skunks onto it, adjusting it to nestle them properly. Confidant the insulation, with her lingering body heat, would keep them warm.

With the previous spell having expired quite some time ago now, she casts Speak With Animals one more to do exactly that; "We shall dig a sideways-hole. Long as we can reach. Get past the cold-hardened top-soil, burrowing further should be easier then."
"If the group succeeds, then so shall I. Probably."

The skunk nods. "Snow is cold. Thanks you Leaf Lady. We skunks remember."

Mills looks up from furiously digging with his dagger, slowly standing with a grunt. Wiping his dagger clean on his pants leg, he stretches and removes his buckler, then grabs one of the spears and begins digging again.

When they are finally done, Arasmes says: "Alright, now it's time to go collect our reward and leave this middle of nowhere."

Because you're working with makeshift tools, it takes you about 2 hours to dig out a space big enough for the skunk group. Guryasaa on lookout only notices a few bird flitting about or a deer or two in that time. Once it's done, the skunks happily go into the den and curl up. After all they hibernate and it's still winter.

With traveling to the heart of the woods, digging a den, and back again. the winter sun is high in the sky. The farmer and his family are sitting down to lunch. He looks up from his ham. "Did you get the skunks moved and all settled in?"

"Yes, we did, and you will find that there is no blood or carcasses in your cellar to clean, too, and everything inside it is intact and lacks a strong repulsive odour. Perhaps we could get a little bonus for a job well done?", Arasmes suggests.
