Ten Minute Background! Concept: 1) Garrickh is tall, muscular and stocky, with a long, old, jagged scar running up his left cheek. He prefers simple, unadorned, dark clothing, when he's not encased in his bonecraft armor. Which, in a perverse way, has always felt more comfortable. 2) Garrickh was born into relatively minor nobility, but his family nevertheless counts several great warriors and mages in his distant ancestry. Very distant. 3) Garrickh joined the military at an early age (as is the law), where a minor sparring accident revealed his inborn connection to necromantic energies. From there, he was whisked away for arcane and military training, and then sent to the front lines to serve as a commander of undead troops. 4) Garrickh is a born and raised soldier and necromancer- and the Treaty of Thronehold ended the Last War and outlawed military necromancy. Several years on, he's still not entirely sure what to do with himself: He's been placed on 'detached duty', and has been taking odd jobs as a bodyguard or mercenary (Read: Adventurer!). 5) Garrickh is a man of honor and integrity. He's not a nice man, and probably not even a good man, but he swore an oath to serve his king and country, to uphold the laws and protect the people, and he takes that sort of thing very seriously. Goals: 1) Garrickh is still trying to find a 'place' for himself, some way to fulfill his duties but still guarantee a certain amount of 'stability.' 2) I'd like to see Garrickh tempted by the Dark Side. "Garrickh, I *am* your great-aunt-on-your-mother's-side-twice-removed!" "Nooooo!" Secrets: 1) Secretly, Garrickh dreams of a log cabin in the Karrnwood, far away from anyone but friends and family. 2) While the man himself is completely and thoroughly unaware of it, Garrickh's necromantic blood is a result of a generations-long experiment of the Blood of Vol. When the time was right, Garrickh was supposed to be inducted into the cult's secrets and enlisted in the Order of the Emerald Claw- but when King Kaius formally severed all ties with the cult, so did Garrickh. No matter where his personal sympathies lay, worship of the Blood of Vol is illegal under the Code of Kaius and that was that. Relationships: 1) Gustavus ir'Trotholdt, Garrickh's grandfather. While he passed away while Garrickh was still a boy, Garrickh nevertheless had the honor of fighting alongside him on the front lines of the Last War. He is currently stationed on the border at Fort Bones- or was the last Garrickh saw of him. 2) Azra d’Deneith, minor functionary in the Defender's Guild. A rather dour, stern and large woman, Azra is fiercely loyal, much like Garrickh, but nevertheless has a hidden softer side, much like Garrickh's. The two are old friends, Rekkenmark classmates and drinking buddies, and with Garrickh fallen on something like hard times, she throws bodyguard and mercenary work in his direction when she can. 3) Elsanth ir'Trotholdt, a necromancer, estranged aunt and Blood of Vol priestess. So very, very disappointed with the way Garrickh turned out, but maybe there's still time to fix things. There's always time...
