a learning companion: liberal writings which mark my role-player progress

  1. Seasons of the forest

When the forest was born, it was summer. Role-playing shined like a full sun in my heart and made me smile. There was nothing yet, just a spirit of being possible, stretching between what I knew myself capable of and the joy shared by others. :: Then autumn came, even if my forest was so young, a fall from the sky of wishes beautiful to earth, to toil and growth. The sky darkens in autumn, because the shadow of things to learn, to adapt to, the size of which cannot be guessed yet, is as great as ...

  2. Earth“s silent prayer

Time must have stopped. Somewhere, before dawn. It“s just me now, and walking, forward. A forward of which here, only, and a far, very far there remain. And weight. As if I were the earth, and forward a trail plowed through my flesh. I reach, out, with the cold breath, through darkness. My trees... a burden so light, now, so gentle, like that of small flower buds, waiting, closed. That high only, and... beyond that... ... Oh, sky... Turn towards us once more your face, your smile... :::: It is with ...

  3. Gazing at the stars

Was I close enough to see how others play? I picked a tall tree - one of character definition - and climbed as high as I could. And then I looked, and... all those vibrant colours of words, all that shining... even as a thin stripe of charm at the horizon, my choice of dare was overwhelming. I got so dizzy... I almost fell... But I had to return and look again. And so, I waited until the light redrew in its way-far homes in the sky, close to... where the players live, I suppose, and then I climbed ...

  4. Reading a dance of flames

It is not any fire, this magic works with. One must use a fuel that knows of the things asked about. And in my case, as what the trees let go so far is, obviously, something I cannot count on in the future I am trying to pry in, it would have to be living wood. But... you know I can“t harm a tree, so... I figured, instead, I could use a fire already magical - some warmth from my heart; you know, where I keep my dream of becoming role-player. And it would not be lost, because I“ll just put it back ...

  5. Where light meets shadow

Day after day, the trees alongside my road forth kept growing, and dreaming, I felt, within their bark, of magic - the life to which, one day, they will awaken. I stop to lean on one of them and it welcomes my touch as if a herald of that promised blessing of light. But I lean on them, now, to remind me myself, my better self... Oh, know I not what a tree is made of? but of what my soul, a life? Sometimes, like now times, will“s all I can count on, for being strong, definite. It“s the price of true ...
